Tourism, as a new type of comprehensive industry, not only plays a positive role on promoting the regional related industries, but also reflects the implementation degree of social equity in the regional economic and social development. Making a general survey of the history and reality of China’s tourism development, the social equity problem is always an annoyance which hinders the healthy and stable development of tourism industry in China. However, few academic studies have systematically discussed the social equity problem in tourism development. This article argues that the social inequities in tourism development are mainly implied as unfair tourism land resources consumption, unfair distribution of benefits to local residents, unfair pricing policy of tourist attractions as well as unfair tourism products development for special groups. The local governments in the poor areas intend to develop local economy through tourism development and thus to narrow the gap between regions, but in fact, because of the tourism resources in the development of predatory development, and unfair problems such as enclosure movement, the gap between rich and poor, urban and rural areas is experiencing widening trends. The reasons why social inequity is caused in tourism development can be attributed to three aspects, namely, discarded concept of citizens’ rights, fuzzy property system and the absence of government functions. Finally, the article points out that, to achieve social equity in China's tourism development, the existing social equity security system should be revised. Furthermore, a logic framework concerning various social equity dimensions should be constructed to guide the specific tourism development practice in China.

Tourism and Hospitality Prospects, 2017, 1(5): 28-38.   https://doi.org/10.12054/lydk.bisu.46
Abstract( )   HTML( )     PDF(805KB)( )

The competition is becoming more and more fierce among tourism destinations. Tourism landscape is one of the basic elements of tourism activities. Visitors’ preferences for tourism landscape is directly related to the destination decision making and the research on visitors’ preference for tourism landscape has great practical and academic significance. Color analysis is employed as the technical means to analyze travel photos from the website of Mafengwo in three steps. Firstly content analysis is used to construct corresponding relations between tourism landscapes and colors. The colors can be divided into 11 types of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, white, black, gray and brown. Secondly calculate given value centrality and degree centrality of colors, and divide 11 colors into the categories of core and periphery using social network analysis. Thirdly use social network analysis to find Co-occurrence of colors. The results show that visitors’ preference for various tourism landscapes of Fenghuang presents a clear hierarchical structure and can be segmented into three groups: the first group of landscapes is of the “ancient color”, as is represented by Vernacular Pillar-Supported Dwellings and ancient city walls; the second group of landscapes is of the “night color” as is represented by the night view along the Tuojiang river; the third group of landscapes is of “various colors”, as is represented by the ethnical food and costumes of the Miao nationality. It is suggested that the ancient city of Fenghuang should enhance its core competitiveness by preserving traditional architecture, creating unique cultural atmosphere, and innovating cultural tourism activities. It is also advised to improve the night views of Fenghuang, create a romantic atmosphere, concentrate on landscape color construction; enrich tourism products so as to create diversified tourism experiences and support new formats. As the paper has its own limitations, its authors will consider constructing a more detailed color classification system or publishing different color classification based on different tourism products in the future.

Tourism is an important means of poverty alleviation. Tourism poverty alleviation has attracted attention from foreign and domestic tourism researchers. It is of theoretical and practical significance to compare tourism poverty alleviation literature between foreign and domestic researches. By reviewing the related literature, we found that qualitative methods were mostly used in researches of tourism poverty alleviation, while the use of quantitative methods was less. With regard to this, this paper uses the method of bibliometric analysis to investigate the quantity changes/study areas/journals publishing tourism poverty alleviation papers/research methods/fundings and research themes of tourism poverty alleviation at home and abroad. Through the comparative analysis, the following conclusions are drawn. Firstly, in terms of quantity changes of literature, foreign tourism poverty alleviation researches are earlier than domestic research, although the number of domestic research literature is more than that of abroad. Secondly, both foreign and domestic research study areas are mainly in poor areas. However, as for the scale of study areas, there are some differences between foreign and domestic researches. Thirdly, most of the journals publishing tourism poverty alleviation papers both at home and abroad belong to the high quality ones. Nevertheless, there are some differences in the discipline of journals publishing tourism poverty alleviation papers. Fourthly, foreign and domestic tourism poverty alleviation researches mainly use qualitative methods. Fifthly, from the view of fundings of tourism poverty alleviation research, there are some differences in the proportion and type of fundings. Finally, as for the research theme, ecotourism and sustainable tourism are the research topics which both domestic and foreign researchers focus on. There are still some differences of the research theme between domestic and foreign researches. Based on above analysis, the future researches on poverty alleviation at home and abroad were forecasted, with the aim of promoting the research process of tourism poverty alleviation.

Abstract( )   HTML( )     PDF(810KB)( )

The purpose of the study of tourist safety behavior is to control the unsafe behavior of tourists as well as encourage and guide their safety behavior. Foreign researches have developed from simple research on tourist safety decision making, to tourist safety behavior before and during travel, as well as different structural dimensions of tourist safety behavior. Research perspectives of tourist safety behavior are gradually enriched. The structure dimensions of tourist safety behavior are generalized as follows: tourists’ safety decision making behavior, safety information search behavior, safety preparation before travel, safety precautions during travel, and safety feedback behavior after travel. There are many factors influencing the safety behavior of tourists. In recent years, foreign literature mainly focuses on the internal factors, external factors and tourism related factors. The internal factors include demographic characteristics, tourism risk perception, tourism prior knowledge, tourist type, individual relevance and other internal factors. External factors include natural environment, social environment, risk communication and other external factors. Tourism related factors include tourism group size, the travel times, travel companion, modes of tourism transportation, tourism organization forms and other tourism related variables. In the era of safety economy, there is still large room for further research and development of the theory of tourist safety behavior. This paper analyzes the shortcomings of existing researches and the prospect of researches on tourist safety behavior is proposed in three aspects: the concept and development of the measurement scale, the exploration of other influencing factors, as well as the research methods and the research perspectives.
